Getting paid online by clients

Updated

Mylo Prime’s billing tools let your clients pay invoices online — by card or bank transfer — instead of mailing checks. Firms that turn this on typically see invoices paid dramatically faster.

How it works

  1. Record time and expenses on matters as you work. Timers and quick entries both feed the same place.
  2. Generate an invoice. Draft invoices show the unbilled time on a matter; review, adjust, and approve.
  3. Send it. The client receives the invoice with a secure payment link. They don’t need an account to pay — though if they use Mylo Loop, invoices also appear there.
  4. Get paid. Payments post back to the invoice automatically, and your collections view updates.

Payment methods and fees

Online payments support cards and ACH bank transfers. Processing fees depend on the payment method; bank transfers are cheaper than cards. Current rates are shown in your billing settings before you enable anything.

Trust-aware by design

If a client has funds in trust, invoice payment can draw from their trust balance under your control — with the accounting handled correctly. See Trust & IOLTA accounting before enabling this; trust rules are jurisdiction-specific and your firm remains responsible for compliance.

Tracking what’s outstanding

The collections view shows every unpaid invoice, its age, and the client’s payment history, so following up takes minutes, not an afternoon of spreadsheet work.

Troubleshooting

  • A client says the payment link doesn’t work. Links expire when an invoice is voided or replaced — re-send the current invoice.
  • A payment isn’t showing up. Card payments post immediately; bank transfers can take a few business days to clear. If something’s been pending longer than that, contact support with the invoice number.
